5 Ways to Show Your Staff You Appreciate After The Holiday Season Rush (2021)

The holidays are a busy time for everyone. Between trying to squeeze in work, friends, family, and travel it can feel like an impossible time, and yet your staff continues to go above and beyond to provide for your pet guests. Without your stellar staff, your pet care service facility wouldn’t be able to provide top care. In 2021, between Covid scares and general societal shifts, finding good help probably wasn’t easy. When things slow down and you can catch your breath, here is how to show your staff how much they mean to you.

Extra Vacation Time

While seeing friends and family you wouldn’t normally see throughout the year should be fun, let’s be real, it’s a bit more stressful. After the holidays you and your staff may be wishing for a little reprieve or retreat. Since after the holidays it is considered the “slow season” this is the perfect time to gift staff some extra vacay days. Please remember to allow these days to be used without grief or too many questions. Your staff deserves some serious relief, let them have it.

Cold, Hard Cash

Let’s be real, cash is one of the best gifts we can get or give. And after the holidays we are all probably pretty cash strapped. Whether it’s $25, $50 or more gifting staff a little extra cash is always a great idea. You can use a pre-paid Visa or American Express if you are leery about giving out physical cash.

Catered Lunches

Having a good meal at work can really break up the workday. Catered lunches are an easy way to show your staff you care about their well-being. Providing a nutritious and delicious (or maybe just delicious) lunch shows that you care about them feeling and being at their best. A week-long catered lunch can also help your pet care services business support other small businesses in your area.

Choose Their Own Task

There’s always that one task everyone hates but each staff member likely has their own despised task. From cleaning to admin work, letting your staff pick their own task for a day, week or month that they enjoy and don’t despise will make work way more pleasant. It shows them that you are observant enough to know which tasks really are challenging to them and also lets them know that you do really appreciate that they give their 100% even to the most hated tasks.

Staff Party

It can be difficult to find time during the holidays to get together with your staff and celebrate all of your hard work. Hosting a staff party post-holidays is likely to prove to be much less stressful and frankly, more enjoyable. January is a miserably slow month and a little staff party can lift the mood.
