Whether you believe in astrology or not, it’s fun to theorize as to why your pet does all the silly things they do. Unlike your own zodiac sign, which is defined by your exact birthdate, you may not know your pet’s exact birthday. In the case that you don’t know their exact birthdate, use your best judgment; or read about the different traits of each zodiac to see which best match your pet’s personality!
Aries (March 21-April 19)
The first and most fiery sign of the zodiac, Aries are natural-born leaders. If your pet is an Aries they may be impulsive. However, Aries pets are highly intelligent, playful, and high-spirited. They love being active and experiencing new places and people.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Taurus is represented by a bull which means pets born under this sign can be viewed as stubborn. But Taurus pets can also be sweet, cuddly, love food, despise exercise, and enjoy routine and modern comforts. If your pet is a Taurus you two may enjoy a weekend filled with binge-watching Netflix and eating takeout together.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Smart, highly curious, and a little bit mischievous, a Gemini pet can offer lots of laughs as Gemini is often known as the comedian of the zodiac. Ruled by Mercury, Gemini pets can be incredibly intelligent and can switch their personality on a dime. These pets require lots of mental stimulation and enjoy new places and people. A great toy for a Gemini pet would be a snuffle mat or puzzle treat pad.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Motivated by emotions and ruled by the moon, your Cancer fur baby may be extremely sensitive to your moods. Enjoying naps and snacks just like Taurus, Cancer pets may seem sweet and soft but their symbol is the crab so they are not to be underestimated. Cancer pets are deeply devoted to their special person and can make great companion pets. They love to nurture and be nurtured.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
The show-off of the zodiac, Leo loves attention (but who doesn’t?). Leo pets are often the star of the room. If you’re wondering which pet at daycare is Leo, just look for the pet who needs to be the center of attention at all times. But Leos aren’t all bad. Ruled by the sun, Leos are warm, charismatic, extremely loyal, and endlessly entertaining. They enjoy being adored and groomed and make for great show pets. Show your Leo pet some love by taking them to your local pet-friendly cafe or bar and letting the patrons fawn over them.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Virgo, like Gemini, is ruled by Mercury. Virgo pets are often known for their digestive issues. These pets can be shy and timid but are highly intelligent, incredibly affectionate, and loyal. Virgo pets do best with routine, so don’t move their food bowl, switch up feeding times, or change your walking route. Virgo pets can be great with small children and enjoy taking on responsibilities like babysitting small children while you’re in the other room. Virgo pets also do well in public settings as they have the best manners of the zodiac.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
The only other zodiac sign to rival Leo when it comes to beauty is Libra. Ruled by Venus, Libra pets enjoy beautiful surroundings, fine linens, and high-quality foods and treats. Libra pets do not do well with chaos and can become stressed when their peace and quiet are disturbed. They can become deeply attached to their special person and enjoy being together with company over being alone.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Scorpios are known for their intensity. They really feel the high highs and the low lows. Your Scorpio pet may enjoy lots of private time to ponder life’s deepest mysteries, like why does Daylight Savings Time exists. Scorpio pets may be slow to build trust but when they do, you’ll have a loyal friend for life. You also may notice that your Scorpio pet often tries to engage you in deep eye contact. Be not afraid, they’re just simply trying to merge souls with you.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
The traveler, the philosopher, and the student of Life, the Sagittarius pet comes with big dreams and an even bigger personality. They love exploring the great outdoors, urban hiking, and learning new tricks (so long as it comes with new treats as well). They get along with both people and pets and can make for a great travel companion both by car or by plane.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
If you want a dog that works hard and plays hard then you want a pet born under the sign of Capricorn. Capricorns are extremely hard-working and intelligent. They enjoy lots of responsibility. This is a pet that really loves to learn new tricks, skills, and feel a sense of purpose each day. While they do fine on their own, Capricorn pets need structure and reward systems in place to feel fulfilled.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
The most curious and silly sign of the zodiac, Aquarius pets are known for their unique and one-of-a-kind personalities. These pets LOVE change and hate getting bored. You can always cheer an Aquarius pet up with a new bag of treats, a new toy, or a new location to sniff around at. The downside to an Aquarius pet is that they can be unpredictable, however, they are 100% lovable.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
The last sign of the zodiac, Pisces pets are highly intuitive, sensitive, and dare we say, a little bit psychic. Your Pisces pet may be able to sense a bad moon rising. Pisces pets make for wonderful companions, and like Scorpio, are deeply in touch with their feelings and emotions. They are gentle, kind, caring, and loyal. They may seem quiet and lost in a daydream and that’s because they are. Pisces love to enjoy their own inner worlds.
